BACTA-OFF is a germicide-disinfectant product, whose composition includes as active principle a linear chain alkyl-dimethyl-benzyl-ammonium chloride. This compound has the same chemical structure as the normally known as quaternary-ammonium.

The active principle used for BACTA-OFF, due to its linear chain and to the lenght of its n-alkyl group (a radical with 14 carbon atoms) has a low toxicity compared with the other quaternary-ammonium derivatives in the market. The active compound in BACTA-OFF, used at 100% concentration and exhibited to several animals, results in the toxicological data shown in the following table. Quantities are in mg/kg of the treated animal.

BACTA-OFF, due to its composition, its a powerful algicide, bactericide and fungicide, with humidifying propoerties. That makes possible the cleaning and disinfection of the treated surfaces.

In the tests made with BACTA-OFF it was demonstrated its high activity against numerous bacteria, algae and fungi. Amongst other, and just to name only some of them, it was active against:
